FertilizationFertilization

Team Green promotes the use of high quality, slow release granular fertilizers, applied at the proper time and under the proper conditions. Depending on the condition of your lawn, we will fertilize two to five times per season.

Core AerationCore Aeration

Aerating is the process of using a mechanical core aerator to pull up a core of soil from your  lawn. These “holes” allow for air, rain, and nutrients to penetrate the soil. It also gives the roots room to grow. The soil cores left on the surface will dissolve over a few weeks. The soil in the cores contains microorganisms that help digest thatch naturally, creating a healthier lawn. Your soil will have the following benefits:

  • Improved air exchange
  • Improved water and nutrient intake
  • Reduced water runoff and puddling
  • Stronger and deeper root system
  • Reduced soil compaction

Crabgrass TreatmentCrabgrass Treatment

Crabgrass gets its name because it sprawls from a central root low across the ground. It can become a problem quickly because it is able to grow vigorously in hot, dry conditions. Before dying in the fall, a single cluster can distribute thousands of seeds which will be ready to germinate in spring. Our Crabgrass treatment is applied in the spring to reduce the amount of germination.

Over-SeedingOver-Seeding

Over-Seeding can mean the difference between dry, dead grass and a vibrant lawn. Too many homeowners overlook the importance of Over-Seeding. Without new seed to rejuvenate your lawn, your grass will grow old, and thin, causing weeds and disease to ravage your lawn.

The older your grass is, the slower it reproduces itself. Over-Seeding makes your lawn grow thicker and healthier, choking out weeds and diseased grass with new seed. Over-Seeding is an essential part of any effective lawn service. Enjoy a fresh lawn by seeding frequently.

Top DressingTop Dressing

Lawn top dressing is the process of adding material to the surface of the lawn. This would normally be loam or sandy loam mixes, sand or organic material. Top dressing has a number of benefits:

  • Smoothing the lawn surface
  • Helps control thatch
  • Improves the soil
  • Improves drainage over time with repeated applications
  • Helps in renovating or over seeding
  • Protects the grass over winter

White Grub ControlWhite Grub Control

White grubs can be very destructive and can damage your lawn very quickly. Eliminating grubs also helps prevent damage from animals such as skunks, and raccoons which can ruin a lawn digging for grubs. The symptoms are brown patches, irregular in shape which appear in late spring or early fall. Dead patches roll back easily, like a section of carpet. Team Green uses beneficial nematodes, applied at the proper time of the season to help keep grubs under control.

Surface Insect ControlSurface Insect Control

Insects can cause severe problems even in a healthy lawn. This service is provided to eliminate surface feeding insects such as Chinch bugs, Sod Webworms and Billbugs, which can devastate lawns in a matter of weeks . This application is done when insects are actively feeding.

Lawn RollingLawn Rolling

Rolling your lawn is the process of moving a heavy weight across the surface of your lawn to help smooth out uneven areas.

Lawn rolling should only be done under certain circumstances and always followed up by a Core Aeration. Rolling your lawn improperly can do more harm than good. A light lawn rolling is often very useful after the installation of new sod.

Lawn RepairLawn Repair

The first step before lawn repair is to diagnose the problem. Figuring out why your lawn has declined is extremely important. By determining the cause of your unhealthy lawn it allows us to recommend a proper solution with long lasting results in mind.

New Sod installationNew Sod installation

Here in Niagara sod can be installed spring through fall. This process starts by removing the old turf either by Sod cutter or front loader.

Next, prepping the area with a generous amount of top soil will enhance the roots’ ability to grow deep. Sod should be installed within 24 hours of being cut.

A light lawn rolling is often very useful after the installation of new sod. Water immediately after the installation is complete.
